New MAXQDA version for qualitative data analysis available

With MAXQDA 24, the University Computer and Media Center (URMZ) is making a new software version available to all current users at the University of Erfurt. MAXQDA is used for qualitative and mixed-methods analyses of all types of data – texts, images, audio/video files, websites, social media data, focus group discussions, survey responses and much more.

In addition to a new design compared to version 2022, the new version contains more than 35 new functions and improvements, more efficient analysis tools and an AI-based research assistant that is activated for use. For example, automatic transcription of audio or video files is possible, which is available to all users in their MAXQDA account. Up to 60 minutes of interviews can be transcribed there free of charge. With its innovative analysis tools, the software makes research more effective, efficient and enjoyable. For example, AI Assist is now integrated into MAXQDA and document management has also been optimised.

From 1 August 2024, the URMZ will switch all centrally supervised devices –  including those in the computer pools – from version 2022 to 24. Anyone using a self-administered device can carry out the changeover over a period of four weeks. This begins on 1 August 2024, during which time the licences for MAXQDA 2022 and 24 can be used in parallel. Anyone wishing to use the new version must therefore first upgrade the software on their computer to MAXQDA 24 and then connect it to the new licence. Existing projects can be opened in MAXQDA 24 and are then automatically converted to MAXQDA 24 project files.

The new licence information and the download link can be found in the University Computer and Media Centre (URMZ) download area. Further information can be found on our MAXQDA website.
