The aim of the TED Foundation, on which the format is based, is to promote the spread of big ideas. It provides a platform that helps people around the world to gain a better understanding of the world's problems and at the same time motivates them to create a better future together. The background to this is the conviction that there is no greater force for change in the world than a powerful idea.
The first TEDx event at the University of Erfurt is therefore set to be a day full of brilliant speeches and inspiring conversations – a moment of shared reflection and the creation of new connections and networks. Among them will be:
Doreen Denstädt: "Fighting for Diversity, Especially Now"
Kenny Gozali: "Is AI Truly Intelligent?"
Dr Serhii Smahlo: "Turning the World Over: Jesus's Friendship with Outcasts as an Enactment of Apocalyptic Reality"
Sheba George: "The Paradox of Progress: Why we are both advancing and failing in global development and why it all comes down to you."
Dara Morgana: "Inhabit Yourself: From Trauma Land to Compost Land"
Cameryn Moore: "Let's Talk About Sex: Creating Safer Spaces for Sex-Positive Conversations"
Dr Hershita Kaul: "Balancing Act, Aging Like a Pro and New Blueprint for Global Health"
Dr Atif Ikram Butt: "The Toughest Conversation: Navigating the Environmental Narrative"
Jeff Kwasi Klein: "Critical Imagination as a Tool for Liber"
Their live lectures and performances, each lasting a maximum of 18 minutes and covering a wide range of topics, are non-partisan and non-religious. They will then be broadcast on the internet on the TEDx YouTube channel to reach and inspire people around the world. "This is a completely new format for us that we really wanted to try out," say the students from the Brandt School organisation team. "We are very excited and are looking forward to welcoming lots of interesting guests."
