Gotha Research Library presents digital exhibition platform

The Gotha Research Library of the University of Erfurt invites all interested parties to an online presentation of the new exhibition portal, with which the library is once again expanding its spectrum of digital offerings. The event will take place on Wednesday, 5 May, at 6.15 p.m. and will be jointly hosted by Dr Hendrikje Carius (Gotha Research Library) and Carsten Resch (Justorange - Agency for Information Aesthetics, Jena).

Digital exhibitions have become firmly established in libraries, archives, museums and research institutions as a medium for presenting and communicating topics, digitised exhibits and collections. The Gotha Research Library is taking this development into account with its newly developed exhibition portal. Hendrikje Carius and Carsten Resch provide an insight into the conceptual, technical and design considerations for the development and realisation of the generic portal. Among other things, they explore the question of how the portal is integrated into the library's digital strategy and shed light on the fundamental tension between standardisation and the possibilities for creative, experimental staging and discuss further perspectives.

The exhibition portal for the library was created as part of the library's expansion into a research and study centre for the cultural history of Protestantism in the early modern period, funded by the German Research Foundation. The platform is hosted by the Thuringian University and State Library in Jena. As part of the Digital Culture and Knowledge Portal of Thuringia, it will also be open for use by other institutions in the future.

The event is part of the new online discussion series "Gotha Library Talks", in which the library presents its collections, informs about current research in the library, provides insights into projects in the areas of cataloguing, digitisation and digital humanities and would like to discuss interesting developments in the library sector with its guests.

The event will be held online. Dial-in is via the link: uni-erfurt.webex.com/meet/veranstaltungen.fb. Registration is not required.
