We are pleased to invite you to the event “Democracy and the Rule of Law in Latin America: The Influence of Violence on Democratic Processes and Human Rights," scheduled for Thursday, June 27th.

This event will feature Dr Andrés González, the Academic Director of Politikum Ecuador and Germany, and a former International Relations professor at the University San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador). Dr González will provide valuable insights into the societal, political, and security landscape of Latin American countries, focusing on how violence, organized crime, inequality, and non-state actors impact the rule of law and democratic development. Additionally, the discussion will cover policy measures such as the War on Drugs and their effects on the region's stability and human rights.

This event is presented by the "Deutsche Gesellschaft der Vereinten Nationen Mitteldeutschland", "Politikum", the Economics, Law and Social Sciences Student Council, and the Academic Association for Security Studies at the University of Erfurt. The evening will conclude with a non-alcoholic reception, offering an opportunity for informal networking with our esteemed guest.
