"Perthes im Gespräch" about the German expedition to Central Africa (1861–1862)

The series regularly provides information on the progress of the development of the Gotha Perthes Collection, current finds and ongoing projects in workshop reports, discussion rounds and themed guided tours. On 19 June, the natural scientist and ornithologist Wilfried Schmid will be our guest. His research focusses on Theodor Heuglin as an African explorer and collector of bird specimens that have survived to this day. Schmid's biography with a comprehensive catalogue raisonné was published to mark Theodor Heuglin's 200th birthday in March 2024. He has also researched the Gotha Perthes Collection and will present the results of his research into the Africa expedition led by Theodor Heuglin.
