Hintergrund

Lars Korns Forschungsschwerpunkt sind die psychologischen Triebkräfte für die Akzeptanz von Impfstoffen und den umsichtigen Einsatz von Antibiotika. In diesem Zusammenhang verwendet er verhaltensökonomische Ansätze, die Impfstoff- und Antibiotika-Entscheidungen als soziale Dilemmata modellieren, um das Verhalten der Menschen zu beobachten und zu verändern. Sein besonderes Interesse gilt den sozialen Prozessen und kontextuellen Aspekten, die die Entscheidungsfindung beeinflussen.

Seit seinem Wechsel von der Universität Erfurt an das Bernhard-Nocht-Institut für Tropenmedizin in Hamburg beschäftigt sich Lars Korn auch mit der Erforschung von Impfentscheidungen in unterschiedlichen kulturellen Kontexten. Von besonderem Interesse ist dabei die Erkenntnis für die Gesundheitspsychologie im Allgemeinen. Viele Studien in diesem Bereich untersuchen Personen aus WEIRD-Gesellschaften (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic). Die Studienergebnisse lassen sich jedoch nicht unbedingt verallgemeinern und auf andere kulturelle Kontexte übertragen. Er wird psychologische Studien, Experimente und Replikationsprojekte durchführen, um diese Lücke zu schließen und so die Entscheidungsfindung im Gesundheitsbereich besser zu verstehen und Wege für Maßnahmen zur Verhaltensänderung zu finden.
