Step-by-step instruction
During the setup, the access data of your university account (the same as for E.L.V.I.S., moodle) are required, not those of the applicant account! Please make sure that you have already changed your initial password for your university account. If this is not the case, you must change the password in advance via the URMZ user portal.
- Connect your device to the Wi-Fi "gast-ue"
- To do this, open the settings, select Wi-Fi on the left-hand side and then go to ‘gast-ue’ on the right-hand side under Networks
- A captive portal will open; please do not log in here, but click on "Cancel" and select "Use Without Internet"!
- Open the Safari Browser
- Go to the page https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=5059
- Alternatively, you can also go to https://cat.eduroam.org and then click on "Click here to download your eduroam installer"; in the next step, search for Erfurt and select the University of Erfurt
- This page automatically recognises the operating system and offers a file for download. Download the file by clicking on the eduroam logo in the large blue rectangle
- If you are asked: "This website is trying to download a configuration profile. Do you want to allow this?" confirm with "Allow"
- You will receive the message "Profile Downloaded: Review the profile in the Settings App if you want to install it."; confirm with “Close”
- Then go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management
- Under "Downloaded Profile" you will now find the eduroam profile of the University of Erfurt
- Install the profile (you may need to enter your university account access data here)
- Once you have set up the profile, go back to Settings → Wi-Fi
- Before you can connect, please click on the small, blue i symbol next to "eduroam" and deactivate "Private Wi-Fi Address" (this feature may cause connection problems)
- Finally, click on "Join This Network" and, if necessary, enter your university account access data
You should now be successfully connected.
If you receive the message "Unable to join the network “eduroam”", please click on the small blue i symbol next to "eduroam" and select "Join This Network" again. You should now be able to enter your username and password again. Please use the URMZ user portal to check whether your access data for your university account is correct. If everything is correct, please restart the iPad/iPhone once. If this does not help either, please remove the eduroam profile under Settings → General → VPN & Device Management and start again with the first point.
When you are asked for your Passcode, this refers to the code you have chosen for your Apple device.
Attention:
Please ensure that you are using a supported device:
- iPhone 6s or later
- iPad Pro or later
- iPad Air (3. generation) or later
- iPad (5. generation) or later
- iPad mini (4. generation) or later

- You will then receive the message "geteduroam wants to join Wi-Fi network eduroam"; please select "Join"
- Once the connection has been successfully established, you should see the words "Connected" at the bottom of the app
