Open access agreements with publishers

To promote Open Access, the University of Erfurt also takes part in so-called transformation contractsWithin the framework of these license agreements with publishers, you as a member of the University of Erfurt have the opportunity to publish open access in journals of the respective license packages. Depending on the terms of the specific contract your publication is either free of charge or a discounted article processing charge applies.

Within the "publish&read" concept the publisher grants the University of Erfurt read access to the content of the license package (read). In addition, members of the University of Erfurt can publish their scientific research results in journals of the publisher's portfolio (publish).

In transformation agreements, the publication fees for publications in electronic journals in question are usually part of the license fees, which are paid by the library. In some agreements, they are invoiced separately to the university as licensee. Therefore, the authors do not receive invoices for their article processing fees.

Ultimately, the authors decide whether they want to publish their publication open access and retain the exploitation rights, or whether their publication will appear behind a paywall and the exploitation rights will be transferred to the publisher.

As corresponding author please take care to select the University of Erfurt as the paying submission during the submission process and note that your publication is related to your main position at the University of Erfurt.

We encourage you to take advantage of these open access agreements.
