Incunabula
The University Library holds 636 incunabula. The incunabula originate from dissolved monasteries and foundations of the City of Erfurt and from the holdings of the Bibliotheca Amploniana.
The contents are mainly theological Latin texts. The incunabula are listed in the OPAC and the search engine Discovery of Erfurt University Library.
Old prints
The prints in the University Library belong to the deposit of the City of Erfurt (approx. 42,000 volumes) and the deposit of the former Naumburg University of Applied Sciences (approx. 3,000 volumes). Prints from the "Depositum Naumburg" can be found in the OPAC and the search engine Discovery of Erfurt University Library.
The Depositum of the City of Erfurt contains holdings from Erfurt's monastery and school libraries, the libraries of two governors of the Electorate of Mainz, the library of the Old University and from the "Bibliotheca Amploniana", the so-called "Libri Amploniani". The collection is shelved corresponding to provenance.
Printed works Imprints from the "Depositum Erfurt" are partly recorded in the OPAC and the search engine Discovery of Erfurt University Library, in the index of 17th century prints published in the German-language area (VD17) or in the index of 16th century prints published in the German-language area (VD16).
Most of the holdings can also be found via handwritten or printed catalogues in the Special Reading Room of Erfurt University Library.
The autographs of the UB Erfurt Erfurt University Library belong to the stock of the "Codices Erfordenses" (CE.) They have not yet been systematically recorded or listed separately.
Sermons Funeral sermons
Funeral sermons, especially on citizens of Erfurt and the Erfurt area, are in the collection "Old Prints". They are listed in the alphabetical catalogue of Erfurt funeral sermons of the 16th to the 18th centuries and can be found in the alphabetical catalogues "AK I" and "AK II" (provided in the special reading room of the Erfurt University Library) as well as in the OPAC and the search engine Discovery of Erfurt University Library.
Dissertations
Dissertations, mainly from the Old University of Erfurt, are in the "Old Prints" collection. They are listed in the alphabetical catalogues "AK I" and "AK II" (provided in the special reading room of the Erfurt University Library) as well as in the OPAC and the search engine Discovery of Erfurt University Library.
Waste bindings
The bindings of the prints of the 16th to 18th century, which consist of manuscript and music scores and come from the deposit of the City of Erfurt, are listed in a card catalogue. This is provided in the special reading room of Erfurt University Library.
Estate Legacy of Adolf Rhein
The estate legacy of the Erfurt bookbinder and binding researcher Adolf Rhein (1885-1964) contains offprints, hand- and typewritten material, journals diperiocal volumes, books, sample collections of binding paper, stamp impressions and rubbings.
The legacy estate has so far only been roughly sorted (a preliminary overview is available in typewritten form). It is providedin the special reading room at Erfurt University Library.
Exhibition catalogues on the old stock of the UB Erfurt
In addition to predominantly older catalogues which record the holdings of the "Bibliotheca Amploniana", more recent exhibition catalogues also offer further detailed information on manuscripts, incunabula and prints from the "Amploniana" and the historical book holdings of the Erfurt University Library.
