Library account

To access your library account, please open the online catalogue (OPAC) or Discovery, click on the button “user account” and enter the library number of your thoska or your user card and your library password.  

Here you will find all essential information about

  • loans: all media you have ordered and borrowed, their loan periods and the possibility of renewals
  • reservations: the reservations you have made with the possibility to cancel them
  • costs: outstanding fees
  • your data: personal information (address, messages from the library)
  • password: possibility to change the password

Passwords

Your user card is password protected. The default password is your date of birth:

  • for registrations before 01.01.2013 : eight digits in the form DDMMYYYY
  • for registrations from 01.01.2013 : six digits in the form DDMMYYY

To avoid misuse, please change your password via your library account. Your new password should have at least four signs.

Forgotten your password?

Please use the "forgot password" function when logging into your user account. You can request a new temporary password, which will be sent to you by e-mail.

Interlibrary loan

The default password for interlibrary loan is your date of birth:

  • for registrations before 01.01.2013 : eight digits in the form DDMMYYYY
  • for registrations from 01.01.2013 : six digits in the form DDMMYYY

Validity library card

The validity of the library card is limited:

  • students of the University of Erfurt: 13 months
  • all other users: 2 years

The time limit can be checked on your user account.

You will receive a reminder e-mail 5 weeks before the end of the validity of your library card.

After this period you will not be able to order, reserve, borrow or renew any media. Please renew your card in person at the issue desk and bring your passport or identity card.

Account blocked

If your account has been blocked by the library, you are no longer able to borrow, request, reserve or renew any media. Reasons may be: 

  • outstanding fees of € 10 or more
  • third overdue notice sent
  • validity of user card expired
  • thoska/library card reported lost or stolen
