New transformation agreement with De Gruyter Brill

The University of Erfurt also promotes open access publications within the framework of licence agreements with publishers. By participating in so-called transformation agreements with a "publish & read component", members of the university have the opportunity to publish open access in journals of the respective licence packages either free of charge or for a discounted fee. The University of Erfurt has now signed a transformation agreement with the publisher De Gruyter.

This agreement is valid for the current year 2025 and, like all other transformation agreements, aims to replace the traditional subscription business model with publication fees for the content made available in open access. It comprises two parts: a volume A and a volume B. In all (hybrid) journals of volume A, researchers at the University of Erfurt can publish in open access free of charge; the journals of volume B are subscribed, but will be "flipped" when the agreement expires, i.e. they will become pure open access journals. The publisher's portfolio is already home to Fully Open Access journals. Contract participants benefit from a discount on the Article Process Charges.

Further information about publishing agreements for open access publications can be found on the Erfurt University Library website.
