Research Area
Short Biography
Laima Eicke is Research Associate at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) and a PhD Candidate at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy under the supervision of Professor Andreas Goldthau. At IASS her work centers on the systemic impacts of the global energy transition and especially the vulnerabilities of countries in the global south. Before joining IASS, Laima Eicke worked with the German development Agency (GIZ) on international partnerships supporting countries with the implementation of the Paris Agreement. Moreover, she worked for different research institutes, federal ministries, NGOs and consultancies. Laima Eicke holds a Masters Degree in Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy from the Vienna University of Business and Economics. Previously, she studied international relations and Latin American studies in Dresden, Buenos Aires and Lisbon. Throughout her studies she focused on an interdisciplinary analysis of international climate and energy policy and transformational change processes. Her PHD project centers on the international political economy of energy transition finance.
