Dates and Deadlines

We strongly encourage everyone to apply as early as possible. Experience has shown that an early application and admission dramatically increases your chances for starting and studying the MPP successfully, as you will have time for the visa application, for finding means of financing, etc.

Student Visa
If your nationality requires a student visa in order to enter Germany, we strongly recommend that you apply as early as possible, so you have adequate time to obtain your visa. Please keep in mind that, depending on the country you are from, the next available appointment time-slot for a visa application appointment might be 3 months away - or even longer. You can apply for your visa appointment BEFORE you have received the admission letter but please not that you will have to upload the admission letter and further documents one week prior to the actual appointment; otherwise it will get cancelled. Please also check with the local German embassy or consulate on the actual process and waiting times.
For official and reliable information regarding study visa and application, please visit the German Federal Foreign Office's website.
The MyGermanUniversity website also offers step-by-step instructions on the topics of student visa and proof of financial resources. While this an external offer and all content follows their own rationales, we find it a useful, comprehensive collection of relevant information.
On our next page, you find detailed information on the application process for the self-financed MPP. If you wish to apply for the MPP under the DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Programme, please note that the application timeline differs completely. You find all the information on our page on Scholarships.
