Short Biography
Alina Ripplinger is a Doctoral Researcher at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies, Hamburg (GIGA), and at the University of Erfurt. She is a Researcher of the DEMINGS project, which is led by Prof. Mariana Llanos and deals with Democratic Institutions in the Global South. She is also a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Heidelberg (MPIL), with a focus on Central America in the scope of the project “Ius Constitutionale Commune en América Latina” (ICCAL). She joined the GIGA in November 2022 and was previously working as a Project Assistant for ICCAL at the MPIL. She holds a Master of Arts in Political Science (M.A.) from the University of Heidelberg and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (B.A.) from the University of Göttingen.
Her dissertation entitled focuses on contexts of autocratic consolidation and strategic resistance of civil society organizations that resort to human rights law. It is supervised by Prof. Mariana Llanos (GIGA, Erfurt) and Prof. Christina Binder (Universität der Bundeswehr München).
