Erfurt’s airport is located about 10 kilometers from the city center. An airport bus and tram (Line 4) transport passengers between the airport and the central train station of Erfurt in 20 minutes. In many cases, however, it is best to fly to Frankfurt (FRA) or the international airport in Berlin (BER) and then take a train to Erfurt.
The German Railway (Deutsche Bahn AG) high speed trains travel regularly to Erfurt from all parts of Germany. Online information on train connections to and from Erfurt is available at www.bahn.de
From the main railway station, take Tram Line 3 (direction “Europaplatz”) or Tram Line 6 (direction “Rieth” or “Klinikum”) to the university stop “Universität”. The ride will take about 10 minutes.
The main entrance of the University of Erfurt is just across the street from the next tram stop "University".
Erfurt can be reached via motorways (Autobahn) A 4 and A 71. From the west (Frankfurt/Main), take A 4 (direction Dresden) to “Erfurter Kreuz”. There, switch to A 71 and follow it to the exit “Erfurt-Bindersleben”. Then follow the signs to “Erfurt-Nord” and “Hauptklinikum / Universität”. From the East (Dresden or Leipzig), follow A 4 (direction Frankfurt) to exit “Erfurt-Ost”. Then follow the signs to “Zentrum” and ”Universität”.
There is a visitors’ parking lot behind the university campus (from Mühlhäuser Straße) with free parking spaces available.
