The "true islam" and his followers: audio-visual (re-)presentations of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat on Social Media (working title)
As part of the AIWG project Islam and Digitality , I am focussing on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and how its believers deal with social media. In the first step, I am investigating which topics are generally addressed in the shared and/or produced content and how this content is negotiated on an audio-visual level. In the second step, interviews with believers themselves will be used to find out what role social media play for them in general and their religiosity in particular.
As part of the AIWG-project Islam and Digitality, my research focuses on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and their believer's usage of Social Media. First, I examine the topics addressed within the shared or produced contents, and how they are mediated on an audio-visual level. Second, by conducting interviews, I want to find out how Social Media impact and influence the religiosity of the believers.
