Public lecture series on sustainable development

This semester, the KLIMA network for more sustainability in Thuringia, in which the University of Erfurt is also involved, is once again offering a public lecture series on the topic of sustainability. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend. Admission is free.

The lectures take place on Tuesdays from 4.15 to 5.45 pm in the Audimax of Erfurt University of Applied Sciences, Altonaer Straße 25. They can also be followed online (via Webex). Professor Matthias Gather (Erfurt University of Applied Sciences // Transport Policy and Spatial Planning) will kick things off on 15 October with an introductory talk on "The problem: population development, resource consumption, climate change and tipping points of the global climate".

The lecture series deals with ecological challenges such as climate change, the energy transition, land consumption, sustainable forestry and the loss of biodiversity. It also touches on issues such as global conflicts over sustainability, the link between democracy and education for sustainable development, sustainable corporate governance, the concept of growth, the possibility of regional economic cycles and state financing of the necessary transformation process.

The series of events is organised by Professor Matthias Gather in cooperation with the CLIMATE network for more sustainability in Thuringia, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Please see here for the detailed programme (in German only).

The lecture series is also recognised as part of the Studium Fundamentale at the University of Erfurt. Students can earn six credit points here.
