New blog post for the "International Day of the Deaf"

People all over the world celebrate the "International Day of the Deaf" on 23 September.

It was established in 1951 by the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) and has also been celebrated in Germany since the mid-1970s. Many deaf associations use the day as an opportunity to draw attention to the situation of the approximately 80,000 deaf people nationwide and to promote sign language. The topic is gaining importance not only against the backdrop of efforts for more diversity, knows Dr Anja Werner, who deals with this very issue in her research at the University of Erfurt.
