Directions for visitors
On foot from the train station (approx. 20 minutes): Walk along Bahnhofstraße, which then turns into Friedrichstraße, following the tram tracks in the direction of the city centre. You will pass the Orangerie and the City Library "Heinrich Heine" on your left but go straight ahead and then cross the forecourt in front of the New City Hall at Ekhofplatz. There you turn left into Siebleber Straße, which then becomes Lucas-Cranach-Straße. After a few hundred metres, you will arrive at the “Landschaftshaus”, where the Gotha Research Centre is located (Schloßberg 2).
By tram: You can reach the Gotha Research Centre from the train station by taking one of the trams at Bahnhofsplatz (lines 1, 2 and 4). Get off at the stop "Orangerie". Cross Friedrichstraße and continue walking for about 100 metres. Turn left at Ekhofplatz. Follow Siebleber Straße, which then becomes Lucas-Cranach-Straße. After a few hundred metres you will see the corner building where the Gotha Research Centre is located (Schloßberg 2) in front of you.
By car: The Research Centre does not have its own parking spaces. You can park free of charge across from the Hotel am Schlosspark, but capacity is limited. Paid parking is also available on the south side of Castle Friedenstein. There are further parking spaces in the vicinity of the Gotha Research Centre, but these are limited to two hours. Please use a parking metre.
