New insights into an almost forgotten society in northern Ethiopia

In his homeland - the Tigray region of Ethiopia - civil war is raging. The local university in Mekelle, where he worked as a research employee at the Institute for History and Cultural Heritage, had to be closed. For researchers like Fesseha Berhe Gebregergis, this is a difficult situation - both privately and professionally. But he was fortunate: since September 2022, he has been a scholarship holder of the Gerda Henkel Foundation in Gotha, where he is working on his doctorate at the Centre for Transcultural Studies / Gotha Perthes Collection at the University of Erfurt.
