Two new volumes on the history of credit and debt have been published in the research field of the new history of capitalism: Erfurt historian Felix Krämer examines indebtedness and precarious credit conditions for US history in the book "Leben auf Kredit" (Living on Credit), which is based on his habilitation thesis. Matthias Ruoss analyses instalment loans in industrial capitalism in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in his study "Auf Pump" (On Credit), for which he completed his habilitation at the University of Fribourg. On Thursday, 17 October, the two books will be presented at an event in the research building "Weltbeziehungen" and commented on by Jule Govrin (Berlin) and Friedrich Lenger (Gießen).
