Nijmeh Ali, PhD

Short Biography

Dr. Nijmeh Ali is a Fellow at the National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Otago in New Zealand. She has a background in political science and sociology and works as a researcher and policy analyst. Dr. Ali holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies, and her research mainly focuses on political behavior in non-Western societies. Her work challenges the classic liberal citizenship framework and examines activism within oppressed groups. Dr Ali's research also examines the strategies and polices used by marginalized groups, including women, minorities, refugees, and migrants, to resist subjugation. Recently, she has shown interest in technology surveillance and its impact on political behaviour. Dr Ali also offers political consultancy services on Middle Eastern politics.
