Graduate centre for educational quality

In addition to good and innovative teaching, modern teacher training also requires interdisciplinary research. The Erfurt School of Education organises and coordinates research in the field of school, teaching and educational research through the graduate centre "Educational Quality", which was founded in spring 2009. The topics researched in the graduate centre are aimed at the systematic description, analysis and improvement of school development and teaching processes at different levels. In the graduate centre "Educational Quality", lecturers and doctoral and postdoctoral students are involved in interdisciplinary research desiderata relating to (general) teaching-learning processes in the classroom, school development, professionalisation of teachers and quality development in teacher education.

The graduate centre for educational quality is an EPPP - what does that mean?

The graduate centre is part of the "Erfurt Doctoral and Postdoctoral Programmes" (EPPPs). A doctorate in one of the (certified) graduate centres with a structured doctoral programme offers a binding curriculum consisting of a regular colloquium and supplementary workshops to support the academic qualification of early-stage researchers. The regular events also enable constant contact and exchange with other doctoral candidates.

The university provides EPPP doctoral candidates with funding for research-related travelling and material expenses as well as for further education. Doctoral candidates can also receive financial support for self-organised specialist and further training events.

Who is the Graduate Centre for Quality Education aimed at?

  • Graduates of teacher training programmes with a very good university degree who have already gained a scientific interest in researching educational processes during their studies.
  • Graduates of related degree programmes such as Educational Science, Psychology, etc. who would like to do a doctorate in the field of education.

Cooperations

The Quality Education Graduate Centre is part of the Teacher Education Graduate Centre Network (NeLe).
NeLe is an initiative for cooperation in the area of doctoral programmes and the promotion of early career researchers in teacher education research of the QLB projects in Potsdam, Jena, Erfurt, Dresden and Halle. The cooperation aims to promote networking and exchange at the level of doctoral candidates and supervisors at the universities mentioned, as well as the development of a common understanding of "quality of support" in the promotion of doctoral candidates.
