Nagapushpa Devendra

Nagapushpa Devendra is a PhD Research Scholar at the Chair of International Politics and Conflict Studies at the University of Erfurt. Her area of concentration is the “Limitation of Geoeconomic: An analytical framework to understand China’s foreign policy towards Iran”. She is also teaching staff, conducting her seminars on the Great Power Politics and the Middle East (West Asia) Conflict and Security at the University. Her other areas of interest are Weapon armament, Terrorism and Proxy wars.

Before joining Erfurt, she was working at India’s premier think tank, the Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses where she exclusively focused on the West Asian region and the involvement of great powers such as the US, Russia and China. She has also worked as a consultant and editor for the BBC Monitoring team, gathering and publishing South and West Asia content. She has also worked as a Researcher at the Institute of Perception Studies - focusing on the application of international law in international crises such as Sri Lanka, El Salvador, Kashmir Valley etc. She has served as an ambassador of Greenpeace India researching and raising awareness on environmental crimes and sustainable development. She has worked as a Researcher at JKCCS, a regional think-tank in Indian-occupied Kashmir to study the influence of West Asian countries as well as to work on conflict crimes conducted by both state and non-state actors.
