The Gotha Research Library supports exhibitions that pursue a cultural or scientific objective with loans from its holdings. Special conditions apply to the loan of precious objects and objects constituting a conservation risk. Please note that not all loan requests can be met for conservation or other reasons.

Contractual partners are usually public institutions, not private individuals. The basic decision as to whether the requested objects will be lent is made by the Directorate of the Gotha Research Library.

Please contact the Gotha Research Library with your written loan request as early as the preparation stage of your loan project, but at least 3 months before the start of the exhibition. You will first receive a confirmation of receipt of your loan request. After checking this, we will inform you promptly whether a loan is possible.
