During the events, one person from the organisation team will always be on site as a contact person. On the one hand, this applies to the event halls, and on the other hand, a person will be available at the information desk in the Kulturhaus.

Where can I find the venue A: Kulturhaus?

Event hall

The town's Kulturhaus (Ekhofplatz 4) will serve as the conference centre. A contact person from the organisation team will always be on site.

The plenary events, the evening lecture and the general meeting will take place here, as well as the Group A panels. The publishing exhibition will be located in the foyer of the Kulturhaus.

Coffee, water and pastries will be available in the adjoining theatre café during the breaks. The welcome reception on the first evening will also take place here.

For fire safety reasons, all jackets and bags must be left at the cloakroom in the Kulturhaus which is located on the upper floor.

Where can I find venue B: Cibulka-Saal?

Hanns Cibulka Hall

The „Heinrich Heine“ Gotha City Library (Friedrichstraße 2-4) is located diagonally opposite the Kulturhaus. The event hall, which is named after the author Hanns Cibulka, who was head of the library for many years, is located in the annex. Entrance to the hall during the conference will be via the separate entrance on Philosophenweg, the cross street on the northern side of the building.

Where can I find conference venue C: Lecture hall in the FZG?

The lecture hall with around 70 seats is located on the first floor of the Gotha Research Centre at Schlo'ßberg 2. The hall, which was extended in the 19th century, is the centrepiece of the "Landscape House", which dates back to the 17th century and served the parliament of the Duchy and, from 1918 to 1920, the parliament of the Free State of Saxony-Gotha.

From the conference centre, Sieblebener Straße leads straight to the research centre.

Are the conference venues barrier-free?

Gotha's old town centre has numerous cobbled squares and streets, pavements with steps/stairs and some steep inclines.

Due to its location on the Schloßberg (pavement with steps), the Gotha Research Centre is not barrier-free and requires the assistance of another person. The entrance doors are difficult to open. However, there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet and a lift to the 1st floor.

There are wheelchair spaces in the main hall of the Kulturhaus. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet in the building. Access for guests with limited mobility or wheelchair users is via a side entrance.

The Hanns Cibulka Hall in the City Library can be reached without steps via the side entrance from Philosophenweg. A barrier-free toilet is also available here.

What technical equipment is available?

Our conference rooms are equipped with presentation technology. All panels will be supervised by a member of the congress team. Please arrive punctually at least 15 minutes before the start of the panel. Please bring your presentations (in ppt or pdf format) on a USB stick. In order to speed up the set-up process and relieve the supervisor, we strongly recommend that section chairs bring all presentations for the panel on one USB device.

We kindly ask you to allow enough time for discussion and not to exceed the time frame of 120 minutes so that subsequent events can start on time.

If you plan to bring handouts or similar, please note that there are no printing and copying facilities in the buildings.

After the conference

How can I get my travel allowance?

If you work at a foreign research institution, we have applied for a travel grant from the DFG for you. In order to be able to claim this grant, we need the completed travel expenses form, which you will find in your folder, as well as the original tickets and invoices as proof of your travel and accommodation expenses.

How can I find more accommodation?

There are also other guesthouses, hotels and holiday flats available in Gotha city centre. Information on rooms and tourist infrastructure can be found on the website of the city's tourism agency, KulTourStadt Gotha GmbH.

For early risers and nature lovers as well as participants who would like to spend a day or two hiking after the conference, we also recommend accommodation in Schnepfenthal, Friedrichroda or Bad Tabarz. These towns can be reached in a maximum of one hour by the popular Thuringian Forest Railway, which departs directly from the conference centre. You can find an overview of the timetable here.

Which routes do I need to be prepared for?

From the train station, the Kulturhaus and the city library (via Bahnhofstraße) as well as the research centre (through the castle park) can be reached on foot in approx. 15 minutes, alternatively the tram runs in the direction of the city centre to the stop. The distances between the conference venues can be covered on foot in three to ten minutes.
