Placement tests for registration
- Placement tests for German as a foreign language and English take place every semester
- Placement tests for French and Spanish only take place at the beginning of the winter semester
French and Spanish
Students with prior knowledge of French and Spanish must take a computer-based placement test (C-test) to enroll in a course.
The next C-test (French/Spanish) will take place during orientation (STET) week.

Results:
- Spanish: Test results and information on course participation will be sent by e-mail.

Russian
A placement test will take place during orientation (STET) week.
Students whose native language is Russian will be given a short interview after the placement test.
Course groups and lists will be published on the Russian Department’s webpage a few days before the beginning of the semester.
English
Students who want to attend an English course must take the computer-based Oxford Placement Test (OPT).
Registration is on Moodle.
Language proficiency tests
The Language Center’s courses prepare students for proficiency tests (A2, B1 and B2). The C1 exam can also be taken upon request.
The proficiency tests are based on the CEFR.
Proficiency tests:
- A2 level
- B1 level
- B2 level
- C1 level
Students can also use study self-study software, watch foreign language movies or borrow foreign language books.
