Artificial intelligence (AI) is penetrating more and more areas of tourism – from personalised travel recommendations and smart chatbots to dynamic pricing and automated hotel services. But is AI really a revolutionary disruption, or is its potential overestimated? The lecture by Professor Andreas Zimmer from the International University will highlight both the opportunities and challenges associated with the use of AI in tourism. Current developments, practical examples and key questions will be discussed.
- Where does AI stand in tourism today? (e.g. chatbots, personalised travel recommendations, automated processes)
- Revolution or hype? (new business models, hyper-personalisation, but also risks)
- Practical examples and interactive live demos (AI-generated travel plans, human vs. AI recommendations)
- Challenges and ethical questions (data protection, labour market changes, sustainability)
- Discussion: What does the future hold? (AI as a supplement or replacement for human interaction?)
The lecture will be interactive, with live voting, small discussion groups and practical examples to actively involve the participants.
The other dates of the AI lecture series in the summer semester can be found on our event poster (in German only).
