The "Universitätsgesellschaft Erfurt " (University of Erfurt Society) is celebrating its 30th anniversary under this name this year. Founded in 1987 as the "Alte University of Erfurt" interest group, the "Universitätsgesellschaft" is one of the civic movements of the late GDR era. After the peaceful revolution in 1989, it was one of the few organisations to achieve its main goals, the refoundation of the University of Erfurt in 1994 and the reconstruction of the former main building Collegium Maius in 2011. Today, it supports the university as a sponsoring society and maintains its rich tradition.

The “Universitätsgesellschaft” is celebrating the anniversary with the opening event for the summer semester of the “Erfurter Kolleg”, which will focus on the history of the university and “Universitätsgesellschaft” in eight lectures.

Professor André Brodocz (Vice President for Research and Academic Careers at the University of Erfurt), Thomas Hutt (President of the University Society), Dr Aribert Spiegler, Dr Steffen Raßloff and other speakers from the summer semester cordially invite you to celebrate the anniversary with us on 3 April 2025. The event will be accompanied by music from members of the University's Music subject area and will be followed by a reception.

The event is open to all participants of the “Erfurter Kolleg”, all employees and students of the University of Erfurt and interested citizens.
