The Duke Ernst Scholarship Programme has been running since 2004 for the purpose of researching the holdings and collections at Friedenstein Palace in Gotha. It was funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation until 2018. Since 2019, the Ernst Abbe Foundation has continued the funding. The scholarship programme is supervised by the Gotha Research Centre. In 2021, funding fellowships for female scientists at the Gotha Research Center and at the Centre for Transcultural Studies / Perthes Collection will be announced for the first time as part of the “Thuringian Program for the Promotion of Young Female Scientists and Artists”.
Also in 2021, the scholarship for literary research in the Gotha Research Library was announced for the first time on the joint initiative of the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Thuringia, the Friends of the Gotha Research Library (registered association), the Gotha Research Center and the Literary Society of Thuringia (registered association).
The fellowship program is supervised by the Gotha Research Center.
