Prof. Heike Grimm and Priscilla Appiah Lead Workshop on Social Innovation at the International Public Policy Association in Guadalajara

The workshop was designed to delve into the escalating significance and pertinence of social innovation policies and projects in driving global development forward.

 

Aletta Haniel Professor for Public Policy and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Dr. Heike Grimm recently co-chaired a workshop in Guadalajara, Mexico, alongside her research associate, Priscilla Appiah. The event, organized by the International Public Policy Association in June 2024, centred on public policies aimed at fostering social innovation. Through vibrant and engaging sessions, participants shared cutting-edge research and case studies that underscored the growing importance and relevance of social innovation policies and projects in advancing global development. A selection of outstanding papers from the workshop will be featured in a special issue currently being curated by the panel chairs for the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Public Policy, where Professor Grimm holds the esteemed position of Editor-in-Chief. 

Professor Grimm's visit to Mexico not only served to strengthen academic ties with Brandt School's partners like Colegio de México but also facilitated the establishment of new collaborations with prestigious research institutes and universities. In addition to her active participation in the workshop organized by the International Public Policy Association in Guadalajara, she utilized this visit as an opportunity to engage in fruitful discussions with cooperation partners. This included productive talks with Professor Jose Luis Mendez at Colegio de México, followed by a meeting with Professor Rik Peeters and Cesar Renteria Marin at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE) in Mexico.
