New board member Wolfgang Tiefensee: “The Brandt School is uniquely positioned to study and tackle key challenges of our time”

Former minister Wolfgang Tiefensee has joined the Brandt School's Advisory Board. His expertise will guide the school’s development and strategic direction.

The Brandt School’s Advisory Board, a strategic body for shaping the school’s development and future initiatives, has welcomed former minister Wolfgang Tiefensee as a new member. A long-standing member of government, Tiefensee served as Federal Minister for of Transport, Building and Urban Development and as Thuringian Minister of Economics, Science and Digitalization.

“The Brandt School brings together people from a wide range of countries. With their backgrounds and their individual perspectives on the challenges of our time, they bring with them unique prerequisites for studying together and to tackle important regional and global issues. This not only creates a compendium of solutions and possible pathways to action that can be used to shape our society, but also a growing, global alumni network,” Tiefensee says. “I also greatly value the interdisciplinary exchange with the professors and experts, which is always stimulating and enriching. In this way, Willy Brandt's call to socio-political action lives on: here in Erfurt, at the Brandt School, internationality is lived every day as a prerequisite for a humane future for our planet.”

“We are deeply honored and look forward to working with Wolfgang Tiefensee. His extensive experience and track record in political leadership are a great asset to the school and will be invaluable for further strengthening our profile as a leading public policy institution in Germany ", Brandt School director Professor Andreas Goldthau adds when welcoming the former minister on the board.
