Research Area Entrepreneurship and Public Policy

Public policy continues to be an important determinant of economic and societal development, among others, so long as institutions and policy-makers interfere to shape the market economy. During the last few decades all levels of government at the federal, regional and municipal level have become key players in the promotion of a so-called entrepreneurial economy. The re-emergence of entrepreneurship and the shift from a market economy to an entrepreneurial economy accelerated due to an increased globalization and pressing challenges (e.g., climate change, pandemics).

Our research focus goes beyond rather traditional paradigms of considerations reflecting and taking into account the varieties of entrepreneurship policies and policy-making including digital, social, sustainable, institutional, administrative, public and other forms of entrepreneurship. Such investigations, research and activities allow us to think out of the box and develop innovative forms of governance including state-societal co-collaboration. This discussion has been triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic and lies at the core heart of our research. And they do have an impact on public administration and public management in the future assessed by our School and partner organizations.

At the Faculty of Political Science/Aletta Haniel Professor for Public Policy and Entrepreneurship at the University of Erfurt, the temporary position as Research Associate (f/m/d) with 20 hours per week is available as of 01.09.2023: Research Associate (f/m/d)

Areas of Responsibility:

• research (contribution to basic elements of research, among others, case study, research design, methodology, transfer of knowledge) and teaching (2 LVS)
• mentoring support of MPP students
• support of the professorship in research, organization and administration
• own scientific further qualification (doctorate) in the subject area of the professorship
• participation in academic self-administration

We offer the possibility of a doctorate in a research-oriented, motivated, international environment. Comprehensive supervision of teaching and research activities is provided, especially in the course of jointly authored research work. In addition, participation in continuing education programs, summer schools and international conferences is explicitly supported
