The workshop was arranged under the auspices of the “Foreign and Security Policy Group” of the German Political Science Association (DVPW), where Patrick Mello is one of the spokespersons (together with Klaus Brummer, Sandra Destradi, and Gordon Friedrichs).
Divided into five panels, the workshop engaged with “images, emotions, and narratives”, “big data and social media”, “norms, contestation, and discourse”, “quantitative and comparative approaches”, and “historical and pragmatic approaches”. Overall, the workshop featured 16 presentations from 20 contributors, including professors, post-doctoral researchers, and doctoral students.
Patrick Mello presented on “Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) in Foreign Policy Analysis”, based on a textbook that he is currently preparing for Georgetown University Press.
The organizers gratefully acknowledge financial support from the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy and the University of Erfurt.
