Dies Academicus: "Much more than East and West"

The Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Erfurt is inviting all members of the university to a "Dies Academicus" on Tuesday, 5 November. From 9.30 a.m. to 9 p.m., the focus will be on the relationship between East and West Germany more than 30 years after German reunification.

the Erfurt Cathedral
The Faculty of Catholic Theology, based in Domstraße, invites you to the "Dies Academicus".

This is because the relationship between East and West is still part of the public debate: There is successful coexistence and a sense of community as well as many misunderstandings and irritations. For some people, including younger people, the question of a separate East German identity arises. Others, like the Federal President, say that we are "much more than East and West". Where will we be in 2024, also as a Faculty of Theology in Erfurt, when we look at East and West in Germany? This will be discussed at this "Dies academicus". As a special guest, the Faculty welcomes Dr h.c. Wolfgang Thierse, former President of the German “Bundestag”.

Please refer to our programme poster for the detailed programme (in German only).
