Even today, 35 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, teachers in the eastern German states are still confronted with the effects of the former division of Germany. Contrary to the assumption that this topic no longer plays a role for pupils, young people in particular still clearly perceive the differences between East and West today. How can we address this East German identity in the classroom? Interested university members are cordially invited to a film screening of the (K)Einheit initiative, which has developed an educational format with its series documentary "(K)Einheit – Wie die Gen Z über den Osten denkt" (how Gen Z thinks about the East), which can be a hook and food for thought for the classroom. In a subsequent hackathon, the participants will then work together to develop materials that can be used in the classroom.
