Information from the organiser
"What I like comes to me" and "AI as a wish fulfiller?" - These are the titles of the results of a qualitative study on how children and young people deal with algorithmic recommendation services when using social media, which Achim Lauber (JFF) will present and discuss at the event.
In two consecutive sub-studies as part of the large-scale "Digital Germany" project, the JFF used the example of algorithmic recommendation systems to investigate how children and young people deal with AI applications in everyday life and which skills are necessary for confident use, particularly with regard to important developmental tasks (participation in society, identity work, belonging). By using these services, children and young people are not just consumers. They also produce data, the analysis and processing of which is in turn a constitutive part of the commercial product they use. For this reason, the data practices of children and young people were also analysed as part of their media activities.
