Jorge Semprún (1923-2011) was a Spanish writer and concentration camp survivor. His life was strongly characterised by the political extremes of the 20th century. Semprún was aware of his responsibility as a survivor of the Buchenwald concentration camp. He wrote about his experiences in the camp in order to keep the memory of the National Socialist crimes alive. From this, he derived his vision of a democratic and united Europe for the future, which he campaigned for. After a guided tour of the travelling exhibition, curator Laura Fiedler will talk to participants about Semprún's life and how he communicated it.
