From the HSG announcement:
It is about the fall of the Wall in 1989 and the reorganisation of the GDR press. Initially still characterised by grassroots democratic reform efforts, West German economic interests quickly came to dominate. Instead of democratisation and diversity, new monopolies emerged - no longer of a political, but of an economic nature. Mandy Tröger researches and writes about this chapter of East German media history. In her lecture, she will show why we cannot understand the current press landscape without looking back.
